POSITION: Manager, Mine Planning

NATURE OF BUSINESS: South African Subsidiary of a Listed Global Mining Corporation

JOB LOCATION: North-West Province

REPORTS TO: Director

TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: 2 people

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Assume overall accountability and responsibility for leading and managing the on-site planning function, ensuring high quality short term and long term mine plans for the existing opencast mining operation and the future underground operation

GROUP BACKGROUND: The Mining Group is a listed European organisation, which is strategically focussing on selective growth with a focus on mining, metallurgy and trading; concentrating on small to medium size mineral deposits with the aim of expanding its efforts into metals such as tungsten and gold. The South African Subsidiary operates a chrome mine in the North-west Province, about 100kms from Rustenburg, where they are undergoing projects for underground expansion and the development of a new Platinum Group Metal Flotation Plant.

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  •  A minimum of at least five years experience in a mine planning position for an underground chrome or platinum mine
  • Should have an excellent understanding of geology, rock mechanics, ventilation, mine logistics and mine engineering

  • Extensive knowledge of planning and scheduling software

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of BSc or BEng Mining Engineering
