POSITION: Head of Sales

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Industrial Manufacturing Company in the Automotive Sector

JOB LOCATION: Durban

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

GROUP BACKGROUND: The South African company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the parent company which is headquartered in India. Apart from the South African market, the South African subsidiary also provides products for 33 countries in Africa and the Latin America region which extends from Mexico into South America.

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Assume responsibility for the sales strategy, and authority for executing, managing and developing the Sales function for the South African domestic market, ensuring levels of customer service in order to achieve budgeted sales, targeted profits and return on net assets

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • High level sales person with at least ten years experience in sales roles in industrial product companies, ideally automotive components, using a full distribution network
  • Well developed management skills to lead the team of approximately 160 people in Sales as well as the company branded “zone outlets” and some 800 dealers
  • Should have managed a staff complement of at least 100 people and have been responsible for generating a sales turnover of at least R500 million

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

 

  • Determine, in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer, strategic objectives and operating criteria for immediate, medium and long term
  • Develop, implement and manage the strategic sales plan for the business in South Africa
  • Establish creditability and sound working relationships with Key customers and suppliers
  • Control, evaluate and report weekly and monthly on the sales performance against established objectives, budgets and strategic plans
  • Lead the sales team with a sense of purpose and create an ethos of excellence and desire for continuous improvement
