NATURE OF BUSINESS: South African Subsidiary of a Listed Global Mining Corporation

JOB LOCATION: Gauteng and Northwest Province

REPORTS TO: 2 Directors

TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: 350 people

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Assume responsibility and authority for the effective leadership and profitable management of the mining operations; and to lead and co-ordinate the projects for underground expansion and for a new Platinum Group Metal Flotation Plant.

GROUP BACKGROUND: The Mining Group is a listed European organisation, which is strategically focussing on selective growth with a focus on mining, metallurgy and trading; concentrating on small to medium size mineral deposits with the aim of expanding its efforts into metals such as tungsten and gold.

The South African Subsidiary operates a chrome mine in the Northwest Province, about 100kms from Rustenburg, where they are undergoing projects for underground expansion and the development of anew Platinum Group Metal Flotation Plant.

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

A minimum of five years experience in a Senior Management position in underground mining production and processing in the chrome and/or platinum sectors.

The incumbent must have led underground mining expansion and processing projects.

Understanding of relevant mining related legislation and geological plans.

Strong financial acumen so as to understand budgets, forecasting, financial implications, accounting, key cost drivers and economic coherences.

Understanding of Environmental, Health and Safety and Social Management

The successful candidate will also: have excellent leadership skills and be a team builder who is able to develop, lead, motivate, inspire and get the best out of people; be emotionally mature with foresight, strategic planning skills and the ability to take the initiative and make tough decisions; have excellent business acumen; be performance orientated with good problem solving and risk management skills.
