Position Summary: Assume accountability and responsibility for the Company’s human resources function with particular emphasis on: developing and implementing human resource strategies to support business and human resources needs; providing strategic human resources leadership to the board, executive management and the human resources division; building organizational capability and implementing key Regional human resources initiatives in the South African company

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement human resources and people development strategies, objectives and processes. Facilitate their implementation through line management  
  • Assume responsibility for the direction and management of the recruitment function  
  • Monitor the industrial relations climate and advise the board on the appropriate action to be taken to improve the climate  
  • Play a hands-on and leading role in all union negotiations; ensuring collective bargaining is limited to management’s mandate  
  • Implement training and development strategies in accordance with the Company’s strategy  
  • Manage the compensation and benefits of the Company in line with policy and management decision 

 Key Attributes:  

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Industrial Psychology or Human Resource Management. A post-graduate degree would be highly advantageous 
  • At least fifteen years experience in a generalist human resources role in an industrial manufacturing organization which employs at least 1 500 employees  
  • Must have had experience in leading human resource managers and should have managed a staff complement of at least ten people  
  • Should have experience in expatriate remuneration and services
