EXECUTIVE POSITION: Regional Managing Director, Africa and Middle East

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

 

REPORTS TO: Group Chief Executive Officer

 

TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: ±150 people

 

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Turnover in excess of R350 million

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

Lead, direct and control the company’s activities in the African region to achieve agreed short and long-term financial and operating objectives

 

GROUP BACKGROUND:

The Company offers universal standard units through to specialist custom engineered orders. They have dedicated global and local service with repair teams’ available and active at all times to solve all technical and operational problems for customers.

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Graduate Mechanical Engineer ideally with a postgraduate business degree
  • A minimum of five years general management experience, including managing a sales force
  • Must have had experience in mechanical engineering manufacturing environments, providing products and services to mining, power generation and/or other processing environments
  • Experience as a leader of a business with professional management processes and a track record of meeting high level customer expectations
  • Ideal to have had experience of working in Africa and the Middle East
  • Useful to have had experience in an international organisation with a matrix reporting structure

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Plan, develop and drive the growth strategy for the South African and Africa region with responsibility for all sales and marketing activities
  • Achieve growth of sales turnover at agreed profit margins
  • Provide strong leadership and general management
  • Enhance relationships with the existing customer base as well as developing new customers
  • Fully understand customers' businesses and needs as well as planning, directing and co-ordinating the promotion of products and services to increase marketshare
  • Develop a well motivated and strong sales team, providing the necessary managerial talent, team leadership and business development expertise
