POSITION: Managing Director

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Global supplier of industrial Mining Equipment

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

REPORTS TO: Regional Director, Africa

TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: 150 people

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Lead, direct and control the activities of the company in South Africa and neighbouring countries (Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique) so that the organisation achieves its short and long-term financial and operating objectives as set out by Group Africa management. Assume responsibility for ensuring the legal entity operates within the legal framework of the country

GROUP BACKGROUND: Represented in more than 130 countries, the company has more than 100 manufacturing sites and sales companies supported by about 15,000 distributor locations. The company does business mainly through three divisions: an Industrial Division and a Service Division servicing industrial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and aftermarket customers

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • 8 to 10 years experience in business management including employment in the B2B industrial sector in companies which provide asset management services and solutions
  • A minimum of 3 years in a generalist management role, with proven Executive management
  • Experience in sales to the mining sector
  • Should have managed a staff complement of 100 employees
  • Should have been responsible for an annual turnover of R250 million
  • Experience in value-based selling through a distribution network

  • Implement goals and objectives set by Africa Management
  • Drive the sustainable profitable growth and positive cash flow of the country operations
  • Develop and execute local strategies to grow technology platforms, segments and channels in alignment with global Group objectives
