Position Summary:

Assume overall responsibility and authority to:

  • Lead and manage the Terminal
  • Ensure that a long term asset management programme is in place, is closely monitored and regularly evaluated
  • Develop and implement strategic objectives
  • Represent the Terminal in business
  • Manage the Organisation's relationships with key private and public stakeholders
  • Ensure that the Terminal complies with good corporate governance principles
  • Represent the Terminal to the local community and take an interest in Corporate Social Involvement in the area
  • Establish an ethos of excellence and desire for continuous improvement in safety and efficiencies

Key areas of activity:

  • Control, regularly evaluate and report on the performance of the business against established objectives, plans and budgets, with particular emphasis on internal controls and governance 
  • Enhance relationships with key external stakeholders through the effective handling of the media, public and investor relations, corporate social investment and government relations
  • Network in the broader political and economic spectrum and mitigate corporate risk, ensuring the positive reputation of the Organisation
  • Expose government officials to the Organisation through meetings and events and interaction with the Board and Executive Committee 

Key Attributes Required:

  • Must have had substantial experience in a senior management position in a commercial, industrial, environment and should have managed an organisation employing at least 200 people
  • Experience of working at Board level is essential
  • Successful history of building, developing, motivating and leading a high calibre team of senior executives  
  • Sound knowledge of financial management, budgeting, strategic planning and safety management  
  • Able to engage effectively with Government and have a wide network of contacts with key decision makers
  • Adept at communicating effectively with members of the press and electronic media
